15-18 years

There is an alternative to sitting in a classroom at school. For your senior school years you can study in an adult environment to gain a qualification and even earn while you learn.

The options available at Bendigo TAFE are more hands-on, giving you a practical work-related experience. Your prospects after studying at TAFE can take you on a path with better options for your future.

Learn what you want to

Learn in a supportive environment and as an alternative to VCE, we offer you the flexibility to match your subject choices with your interests.

You will study literacy and numeracy, work related skills, personal development and we combine these with your interests or career choice, this is known as Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL). There are three levels of VCAL, Foundation, Intermediate and Senior; these levels follow a similar line to Years 10, 11 or 12.

VCAL Foundation | VCAL Intermediate | VCAL Senior

What are your options

Get your hands-on and on-the-job experience with VCAL - look at what really interests you and get direction for your future.

Earn money while you're learning by doing a pre-app course through Vocational Education and Training (VET) - this can lead to a certificate qualification and an apprenticeship.

After studying VCAL and gaining more confidence, you could complete your VCE or even study a diploma or head to university.

Getting started

Finish your senior school years at Bendigo TAFE and get a head start in your chosen trade apprenticeship or career pathway.

Pathways to university

By completing your VCAL certificate you will have gained credits towards further study. This is known as recognised prior learning (RPL) and can shorten your study time if you choose to deepen your skills at diploma or advanced diploma level.

Below is a diagram showing the possible pathways to university from completing a diploma and then onto university and your career.
