What is a Pre-apprenticeship?

A pre-apprenticeship is a full-time course that runs for 14 – 16 weeks. It will prepare you for a pathway into a full apprenticeship, by teaching you the basic hands on skills that you need to succeed in the workplace.

Pre-apprenticeships are a great way to get a taste of what it will be like to work in a particular industry, as well as to gain a thorough introduction to how the industry works, learn about workplace safety practices, and get experience using relevant tools and machinery.

Pre-apprenticeship courses may be undertaken part time as part of your VCE or VCAL studies while you are still at school, or after you have completed school.

One advantage to completing a pre-apprenticeship is that we can assist you to find an employer through work placement opportunities during the pre-apprenticeship course, and through our Employment Centre.

We offer pre-apprenticeship courses in:

Automotive, Building and Construction, Electrotechnology, Plumbing, Engineering, Horticulture and Salon Assistance.
