Bendigo hair and beauty students open doors for public clients

Bendigo TAFE’s hair and beauty students are looking for local clients to help them perfect their skills at the TAFE’s Charleston Road Campus.

The students are completing their hair, beauty and barbering courses in their temporary Bendigo TAFE’s Hair and Beauty Salon salon facilities while the Bendigo City Campus is undergoing its $60m revitalisation. They will relocate back to a new training precinct in the middle of next year.

The students offer their services at  training prices, and all work is carried out under the  guidance of educators in a fully functioning salon environment.

Bendigo TAFE’s Executive Director of Studies, Janelle Arena, said community support for the training salon plays an integral role in supporting local students to become qualified hairdressers, barbers and beauty therapists.

“Our local community has, for many years now, supported our students as clients at Bendigo TAFE’s Hair and Beauty Salon Salon. This has given students invaluable experience in interacting with real-world clients and honing their skills in providing various treatments, all under supervision from our industry-experienced educators,” Ms. Arena said.

“We look forward to this support at our temporary salon at the Charleston Road Campus, which features the full range of industry-standard equipment and products within a professional salon environment.”

Funded by the Victorian Government, the Bendigo City Campus Revitalisation Project includes the introduction of two new buildings and the refurbishment of existing heritage buildings on the campus.

Construction works began in February 2020, with the project managed by Donald Cant Watts Corke, alongside Victorian architects, Architectus and Six Degrees, and appointed builder Kane Nicholson Joint Venture.

The students’ Bendigo TAFE’s Hairdressing and Barbering salon offers  hair colours, cuts, foiling, chemical straightening, men’s fades, beard trim and face shaves.

The Bendigo TAFE’s Beauty salon will be providing professional pampering services to the public in waxing, brow tinting, eyelash extensions, manicures, pedicures, electrolysis, massage & facial treatments. Bookings are essential.

The salon is open between 9am - 3.30pm.

July to early Dec.

Free parking is available on Charleston Road.
