As Victoria emerges from the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, businesses and workers need to ensure they can safely reopen and engage with their customers.
Bendigo TAFE is now offering a free accredited short course to help customer-facing business owners and employees identify and manage the ongoing risks associated with COVID-19 infections.
“Our new infection control short course is fully funded through the National Infection Control Fund for eligible participants, is a flexible mix of online self-paced learning and workplace learning, which students must complete within an eight-week period,” said Sally Curtain, Chief Executive of Bendigo TAFE.
“After completing the training, our students will be able to follow standard and additional precautions for infection prevention and control, identify infection hazards and assess risks and follow procedures for managing risks associated with specific hazards,” Ms Curtain continued.
To ensure the new infection control training is relevant for different industries, Bendigo TAFE is offering five infection control skillsets, including:
“Undertaking an infection control course is not mandatory for businesses to reopen; however, the Victorian Government is encouraging employers to enrol their staff for the training,” said Ms Curtain.
“Bendigo TAFE’s Virtual Open Day on Wednesday 21 October is a great way for prospective students to discover what it’s like to study at Bendigo TAFE and find out further information about our courses from current teachers and students,” Ms Curtain added.
“The Victorian Government has highlighted that training and upskilling through the TAFE network will be key to our state’s post-COVID economic recovery. This is the perfect way for those in Bendigo to see what is on offer.”
Like other businesses, Bendigo TAFE has also had to adapt its practices to reflect the current conditions.
“Providing a safe environment for our students and team will always be our number one priority, and we’re continuing to follow the Chief Health Officer’s advice in regards to COVID-19,” said Ms Curtain.
“This is the first time we’ve delivered our Bendigo TAFE Open Day virtually, and we hope our prospective students will enjoy the engaging line-up of webinars we have planned, plus explore our campuses on a 3D tour, have a glimpse of some of our new Bendigo campus facilities, and fill their virtual show bag with course guides and brochures,” Ms Curtain concluded.
