Bendigo TAFE wins a national award

Bendigo TAFE has been named Australia’s top large training provider for 2022 at the Australian Training Awards in Adelaide on Friday night.

The award recognises Bendigo TAFE for its outstanding achievements in the vocational education and training sector.

Bendigo TAFE CEO Sally Curtain said she was proud of the impact Bendigo TAFE has had on students, industry and the local community.

“It’s an honour to be recognised nationally for all the hard work our people do to make a real difference to the lives of thousands of students who choose to study with us each year.

“Our mission is to empower people, our community and industry with the skills to make a bright future, and this award is the perfect mark of our success,” Ms Curtain said.

Bendigo TAFE progressed to the 2022 Australian Training Awards final after winning the Victorian prize earlier this year.

Bendigo TAFE students Desirae Kilduff and Franchesca Morrell were finalists in the national awards.

Ms Kilduff was a finalist in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year Award after completing a Diploma of Leadership and Management/Diploma of Human Resource Management.

Ms Morrell was a finalist in the Trainee of the Year award. She migrated to Australia at 23 from the Philippines and worked for two years as a dental assistant before joining a clinic that offered the Certificate III in Dental Assisting traineeship.

Ms Curtain congratulated Ms Kilduff and Ms Morrell on being a finalist in the Australian Training Awards.

“We’re so proud to see our students recognised nationally for their commitment and dedication. They certainly have bright futures ahead of them,” she said.

Bendigo TAFE would also like to congratulate its partner Bendigo Secondary College for winning the School Pathways to VET Award. This is strong recognition of the calibre of education in Bendigo as the regional city prepares to celebrate 150 years of tertiary education next year.
