What would I do working in Horticulture or Agriculture?

 

Working in horticulture or agriculture involves diverse roles and responsibilities. Let’s explore what you might do in these fields:

  1. Horticulturist:
    • Duties:
      • Combine agricultural and horticultural knowledge to maximise the health and growth of food crops and other plants.
      • Provide technical advice to growers, farmers, and landscapers on planting, harvesting, and cultivation methods.
      • Oversee crop production, ensuring healthy crops free of pests and diseases.
      • Undertake research related to plant behaviour and cultivation techniques.
      • May work in landscaping, educational facilities, or laboratories.
    • Horticulturists play a vital role in enhancing crop yields and maintaining plant health.
  2. Horticulture Worker:
    • Duties:
      • Prepare seed beds for planting.
      • Transfer plants to containers.
      • Till the soil.
      • Unload shipments of gardening products.
      • Propagate new plants through grafting and other methods.
